Carbon capture and storage is a promising pathway to significantly reduce emissions, enhance sustainability and support the province\u2019s net-zero goals. Two scenarios have been explored to capitalize on this technology in Newfoundland and Labrador\u2019s offshore.<\/p>\n

CCS<\/b> is a technology that captures CO2 and permanently stores it deep in the ground. The technology, which is proven and has existed for decades, captures CO2 emissions that come from a plant or industrial site and stops them from being released into the atmosphere.<\/h4>\n
